According to a study by Deloitte, 77% of people have experienced burnout at their job and 42% have left their jobs because they felt burned out.
This is the result of mental and emotional stress due to working long hours and trying to keep up with unrealistic expectations set by the toxic excesses of hustle culture.
What can happen as a result of this –
Being part of a work culture that neglects that you have a life outside of work.
The pressure is more on women in workforce as they are wear multiple hats – outside of work.
And they feel the patriarchal guilt of investing less in their own wellbeing but being there for others, over functioning and ultimately burning out
The answer is more than just a Bandaid approach of investing in self care, but really getting to the root of why this is happening.
How can companies create a culture where mental and emotional wellbeing is as important ?
If not then there is negative effect on the employees mental health, sleep and so much more and it can take months for the body to come back to homeostasis.
